Frequently Asked Questions

Well Informed for Your Consultation

Can you live normally without a gallbladder?

Yes. The gallbladder serves as a reservoir for bile, which continues to be produced by the liver. After removal, bile flows directly into the small intestine. Most patients can eat normally after a short adjustment period.

How does the surgery work?

The gallbladder is removed laparoscopically through 3-4 small incisions. The procedure takes 30-60 minutes and is performed under general anesthesia. Patients can usually go home the next day.

When can I eat again?

Light meals can be started as early as the day after surgery. A low-fat diet is recommended during the first few weeks. After that, a normal diet is possible.
